The First Touch Customers Comment On

Velvet packaging works on a different sense: before the box is even opened, the hand registers it as expensive. Our velvet-flocked wrap has a dense, directional pile that resists finger-marking — not the thin fuzz that flattens after one handling.

The magnetic lid closes with a soft snap; the logo is debossed directly into the pile so it reads as texture, not print. Ribbon bows arrive pre-tied and jig-aligned, in satin printed edge-to-edge with your brand name — no crooked bows on the retail shelf.

Blush, emerald, navy and black are stocked pile colours; any Pantone can be custom-flocked. Compare with our classic magnetic rigid box or the heart-shaped velvet box.

Flocked or Fabric-Wrapped? Decide This Before Colour

There are two different ways to put velvet on a rigid box, and they fail in different places. Getting this wrong is the reason a box can look right in a photo and wrong in the hand.

Flocking is a coating process: the board is coated with adhesive, then short fibres — usually nylon or rayon — are given an electrostatic charge so they stand upright and embed into the adhesive at right angles. Flock fibre stock runs roughly 0.25–5 mm; packaging work sits at the short end, around 0.5–1 mm, which is what gives the smooth velvet hand rather than a bristly one. Because it is sprayed rather than cut and folded, flock crosses corners, radii and curved lids without a single seam.

Fabric-wrapped velvet is woven velvet laminated over the board. The pile is deeper and it drapes, but every corner is a folded or mitred join — under raking light you can see them, and on a small box those joins land close together where the eye is already looking.

Specify Velvet in TCX, Not C — the Most Common Reject

The most frequent cause of a failed velvet sample round is not the factory. It is the colour reference the brand sends.

Brands normally hand over the Pantone from their print guideline — say 19-4052 C. But flock is a textile, and PANTONE 19-4052 TCX and 19-4052 C share a number without being the same colour: the graphics and textile systems use different pigment formulations on different substrates. Matching a coated-paper chip on dyed fibre is an approximation, and it is an approximation that gets rejected at approval. The American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists ranks mixing Pantone systems among the leading causes of colour approval failure in textile production.

What to send us instead: TCX for anything flocked or fabric-wrapped, C or U for the printed sleeve, card tag or insert. If your set has both — a flocked box with a printed belly band — expect the two to read slightly differently side by side even when both are approved. They are different substrates catching light differently, not a production error. If an exact side-by-side match matters, tell us at dieline stage and we will pull the band toward the flock rather than the other way round, because paper has the wider gamut to give.

One more thing photographers hit: velvet pile lies in a direction. The same box shot from two angles reads light in one frame and dark in the other. That is nap, not a defect. Ask for lid and base pile to run the same way, and approve your sample under the lighting you intend to shoot in — not under warehouse fluorescents.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the velvet flatten or finger-mark?
We use a dense directional pile that springs back after handling — it resists the finger-marking and bald spots common on cheap flock.
Can the ribbon be printed with our brand?
Yes, satin ribbon is printed edge-to-edge with your brand name or pattern, then pre-tied and jig-aligned so every bow sits identically.
What is the MOQ for custom velvet boxes?
200 pcs in stocked pile colours (blush, emerald, navy, black); custom Pantone flocking starts at 500 pcs.
How is the logo applied on velvet?
Standard is deboss-in-pile — the logo is pressed into the velvet so it reads as texture. Foil-on-velvet is available for higher contrast.
Can the box hold a multi-piece set?
Yes, die-cut inserts present serums, minis, candles or accessories in one layout; satin lining and tissue beds are also stocked.
